For England & England based supporters, flying to the
FIFA FOOTBALL SOCCER WORLD CUP FINALS in SOUTH AFRICA,
a trip via Zimbabwe is now viable.

The new low cost airline, flykumba.co.zw, may offer flights at
only R800 (£90) from Johannesburg to Bulawayo

On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport you will be met and transferred to Matetsi Game Reserve, a 65 km drive on good roads. During your two nights stay at Matetsi all meals, game-viewing activities, laundry service and some beverages are included.

Matetsi Lodge is situated on 50,000 hectares of unspoilt bushland on the banks of the Zambezi River, by road it is 45 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls. The lodge is one of the prestigious Conservation Corporation group of properties and the emphasis here is on luxury, fine cuisine, excellent service and quality game viewing activities. You will have a choice of either Water Lodge or Safari Camp and from either you activities include professionally guided morning and evening game walks and drives plus the option to canoe or boat along the Zambezi River.

The Matetsi Water Lodge rambles along 15 kilometres of Zambezi river frontage and accommodates guests in spacious, air-conditioned suites of natural wood and slate under thatch - each has it's own private plunge pool and spectacular views out over the river. Safari Camp on the other hand, sets new standards in tented elegance with its canvas canopy over large glass paned windows which frame the view over the plain and waterhole. All rooms are air-conditioned and there is a pool, lounge and shaded decks for relaxing.

After a morning game activity transfer to the airport for your flight to Kariba where you transfer to a charter aircraft and fly to the Mana Pools National Park for your overnight stay at Chikwenya Camp. Again all meals and activities are included.

Located just outside the western boundary of the Mana Pools National Park Chikwenya Camp is set on the banks of the Zambezi River and looks out to the hills of Zambia. This is one of the legendary camps of southern Africa - a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. The camp consists of just 8 thatched chalets with en suite bathrooms, an open-air dining room under a large mahogany tree and a bar / campfire area on the sandy bank of the river. Zimbabwe has one of the most respected guiding qualifications in Africa and at Chikwenya your guides will escort game drives, game walks, birding trips and / or boating on the river.

Mana Pools National Park is is situated on the southern side of the Zambezi River, downstream from Lake Kariba and during the dry season the park has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the continent. The park is uniquely characterised by fertile river floodplains reaching from the slow moving river inland for several kilometres. Small ponds, pools and lagoons have been formed as the river has changed course, drifting slowly to the north over centuries. Huge mahogany and acacia trees near the river give way to dense mopane woodland to the south. The park is home to good numbers of elephant, big herds of buffalo and commonly seen species also include kudu, zebra, eland, impala, lion and crocodile. In the river large pods of hippo and crocodiles are seen and naturally a variety of both woodland and water birds call Mana Pools home.

Today begins one of Africa's greatest adventures - Natureways Canoe Safari. After a morning game activity with the guides of Chikwenya, you will be transferred to meet your canoe safari guide and the small group of travellers who will share this safari with you.

The Natureways philosophy is to provide guests with a real bush experience hosted by experienced guides and utilising the least populated areas of the river. Not so much a game viewing trip, rather a safari where guests interact with nature - canoeing and walking is not standing on the outside being a spectator, it is being a part of the show. The camps are fully mobile and are moved ahead of us each day. This creates a true wilderness and camping feel, however great emphasis has been put on making everything as comfortable as possible. A full camp crew takes care of your every need and the meals that the chef prepares in the midst of this wilderness will truly surprise you. The 3 night canoe safari includes all meals, activities, services of guides and camp crew as well as drinks. National Park fees must be paid locally.

Your guide will transfer you to a charter flight to Kariba in time for your return flight to Victoria Falls where you will be met and transferred to the Victoria Falls Hotel for your 2 night stay on a bed & breakfast basis.

Located within easy walking distance of the Falls and the main shopping villages, this grand old Edwardian hotel was built 1904 and provided an upmarket getaway for the early settlers. Without detracting from the old world atmosphere, the hotel was recently renovated and modernised. Today it offers guests spacious accommodation, excellent service and cuisine from a choice of restaurants, as well as a delightful swimming pool set in sprawling gardens.

The Victoria Falls or Mosi oa Tunya - "the Smoke that Thunders", are truly a magnificent sight. Here the Zambezi pours 545 million litres (120million gallons) of water per minute into a narrow chasm more than 100m (330 ft) deep. The mist and the spray may reach 500m (over 1500ft) into the sky and may be seen up to 30 kms away. David Livingstone is reputably the first European to see the Victoria Falls and in 1855 he wrote "On sights as beautiful as this, Angels in their flight must have gazed " .

Today you too can experience the Falls in the way that Angels do - with a scenic helicopter, light aircraft or micro- light flight over the Falls. Once your appetite for adventure has been whetted you have a great selection to choose from - sun downer cruises on the gentle river bends above the Falls, white water rafting or boogie boarding the rapids, bungee jumping, Spencer's Creek crocodile farm for a wildlife experience you may not have anticipated and game viewing in the nearby Zambezi National Park. The village is also a great place to shop, eat out and wander.

Here you have the opportunity to take part in all the river-based adventures of the region. These are left as optional extras so that you may choose to be as active or as relaxed as you wish.

Your safari ends with a transfer to Victoria Falls Airport.
